Fine Art Update

Art in Richmond

Things have been pretty busy around here. At the beginning of May I participated in my first art show, at the huge Arts in the Park show in Richmond. I couldn’t have asked for a better show. My great friends from Itty Bitty Press and from Studio Eriksdotter were right next door and a minute’s walk away, respectively. The weather was beautiful, and I got a great response to my work. Most of the time I spend with my work is through a computer screen, so it’s really amazing to stand in front of beautifully matted and framed prints and talk with people all day. I’ve got a few more shows planned this year so watch here and Facebook for news.

Art Everywhere

In case you can’t get to a show or you just can’t wait, I’ve also launched a proper online store at http://store.leckyphotography.com. As of this writing, I’ve got nearly everything available that I had at Arts in the Park. This includes the unframed 8x10s and 8x12s of a variety of prints and 5×7 postcards. If you’re interested in a matted and framed print, just let me know. And if you ever see a piece that you’d like to see in print, or if you’re interested in a larger print than I currently offer, drop me a line.

My store integrates nicely with Facebook, so that if you head over to my page and like it, you can get a 10% off coupon by clicking on the little “store” button in the left menu. You can then shop right from the page or head out to the main store to see everything I have to offer. Happy shopping!

A Feast for the Eyes

March 30th, 2011 by Kenneth | No Comments | Filed in News, Photos

Get out your calendars, because you’ll want to get down to LibertyTown Arts Workshop in Fredericksburg this Friday, April 1st. My piece above, brilliantly titled by my wife as “Meloncholy”, has been accepted to their annual “Feast for the Eyes” show. If a room full of art about food wasn’t enough, there will also be an Edible Art Competition, for which you are the judges! I even made a Facebook event for it. What more can you ask for?

The non-perishable art will be there throughout the month, but why miss the party? See you there!

DCist Exposed?

January 6th, 2010 by Kenneth | 2 Comments | Filed in News, Photos

For the third year in a row, I have submitted photos for the DCist Exposed Photography Show. It’s been a great show for the last two years that I’ve attended and I’ll be there again this year even if my work isn’t. I’m happier than ever with my selections, which you may recognize from the blog or among my art collections. Not coincidentally, this is also the first year that I’ve tried to do this photography thing professionally. None of these photos came from paid jobs, but I believe my new focus has helped me to develop my skill and vision.

There is no public voting for this show, but I’m sure thinking a few positive thoughts wouldn’t hurt. You may also want to click one of the photos to see them along side their impressive competition.

Introducing: Art Prints

December 17th, 2009 by Kenneth | 2 Comments | Filed in News

Who would announce a new retail venture 17 days into December? Me, apparently! I’ve selected some of my favorite work and added it to the new Art Collections area of my portfolio. Need a gift soon? Let’s talk. I can make some rush arrangements considering the time of year. At the moment there’s no great way to order from my website, so just take a look around and let me know if you’re interested in anything.

And I couldn’t leave without including some photos, so here are a few samples. There are many more in the portfolio.

In the Papers

October 26th, 2009 by Kenneth | No Comments | Filed in News, Photos

One of my photos from Marin and Daniel’s engagement session appeared in the Sunday Washington Post recently as part of their engagement announcement. I don’t think I’ll ever get used to seeing my photos in the newspaper, but I’m willing to give it a shot.

Congratulations again to Marin and Daniel!

I Love Business Cards

August 11th, 2009 by Kenneth | No Comments | Filed in News, Photos

Specifically, my business cards. They were printed by VGKids, a great screen printing company with amazing products and customer service that makes me feel like we should hang out. It helps that they also have the good sense to advertise on one of my favorite podcasts, Jordan, Jesse, Go! I’m looking forward to finding an excuse to make some t-shirts. Thanks also to my wife for, among many other things, helping with the design of the cards.

Reunion

July 19th, 2009 by Kenneth | No Comments | Filed in News, Photos

I’ve been authorized/asked to publicize the private event that I alluded to in the previous post. I’m happy with what Casey and I were able to put together and, most importantly, so are our clients. In my mind there were two keys to the success: first that everyone was having a great time catching up with old friends and colleagues, and second that Casey and I enabled each other to get the shots that we needed. Below are a few of my shots. Our full set can be seen here.

The Inauguration, Six Months Later

July 11th, 2009 by Kenneth | No Comments | Filed in News, Photos

Inspired by a recent private reunion of a few U.S. government agencies that Casey Collings and I documented, I have added my coverage of Barak Obama’s presidential inauguration to the “projects” area of my portfolio.

I’ve included a few samples below, but even if you saw them the first time around it’s worth looking at the portfolio set. I put a little more time into processing them today so they look a bit better, but it was also great to spend the morning reliving the excitement of that event. As I said in the immediate aftermath, the inauguration was cold, crowded, and one of the most amazing things I’ve ever experienced.
